PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

What is the Present Perfect?

It is a verb tense that is generally used to describe an action that began in the past and continues in the present.

It needs the auxiliary verb “have” in the present and a past participle.

REMEMBER!

We use have for: I, you, they, we

We use has for: He, she, it

POSITIVE

Subject + have/has + past participle + complement

My cat has been at the window since this morning.

NEGATIVE

Subject have/has + notpast participle + complement

My cat has not been at the window since this morning.

1. Unspecified time in the past

- Activity started and finished in the past.

2. Since/for

- Activity began in the past and is still going on now.

EXAMPLES

I have eaten a very good pizza in this neighborhood. 
She hasn't forgotten her appointment with the dentist.
Marco and Fausto have bought roasted chicken and chips for dinner.
We have not decided where to go! So we have to improvise.
